We found that gripping the rim with one or both hands worked best. Teach your kids to hold on to the buckets tightly because some of the animals will try to grab it and steal the entire bucket. You are not allowed to bring in your own food to feed them because their diets are controlled. We had three people and bought four buckets ended up giving the leftover (about 1/3 bucket) to a family just coming in as we left. Recommend one bucket per person who wants to feed. Speaking of the giraffes: They don't come out if it's raining or if it's muddy, so we didn't promise them to anyone since we weren't sure we'd see them. If you want to feed them, you can buy three pieces of romaine lettuce for $5. If the giraffes are out that day, you can walk from the petting area to the platform where the giraffes are fed on the hour, every hour. There are outdoor bathrooms at the entrance also: nothing fancy.one step above an outhouse. There were some orphaned two-month-old antelope there who were very sweet and loved to have their heads scratched. You can park right after you get inside and walk into a little area where you can pet a few animals. Allow about 1-1/2 to 2 hours for your visit. Tickets are $20 age 16+, $13 age 3-15, free age 2 and under. We weren't that lucky, but it was still worth every penny. (Hint: If your plans change at the last minute and you have to go earlier or later on that day you reserved and it's not crowded, they will let you in.) -There are sometimes Groupon coupons check before you buy. This was great because it controls the number of cars at a time so there aren't crowds. You choose an arrival time and you can arrive an hour before or hour after that time. ![]() ![]() Here are the details: -You have to reserve online. They changed to personal cars during the pandemic I hope they never go back to the trolleys because the experience is much better this way. They used to have open trolley cars you ride on, but driving in your own car gives you more control over the animals (which is great if you have a frightened kid-just roll up the window) and you're not competing with other people for the animals' attention. You drive very slowly in your own car, have your windows rolled down, and the animals come to the windows to eat the feed. It is located just a few miles south of Lake Geneva and should definitely be included if you're spending a few days there on vacation. Highly, HIGHLY recommend, especially if you are an animal lover. This place is awesome! It was such fun for both the kids and adults.
